Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that is used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe amounts of fat under the chin, a condition that is commonly referred to as a “double chin”. Submental fullness is a common yet under treated condition that can detract from an otherwise balanced and harmonious facial appearance. Submental fullness can impact a broad range of adults, including both women and men, and can be influenced by several factors such as aging, weight gain, and genetics. The fat underneath the chin can be difficult to get rid of, and often is resistant to diet and exercise.

Kybella, which is deoxycholic acid, is a naturally occurring substance in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the subcutaneous fat under the chin, Kybella™ causes the permanent destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat again. Kybella™ is administered through injections into the fat under the chin and each treatment is customized to meet individual patient needs. Kybella™ needs 2-4 treatments, approximately 8 weeks apart. Once the desired results are achieved, re-treatment is not expected.
